United 757 Returns to LAX After Hydraulic Emergency

A United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Newark declared an emergency and returned to Los Angeles International Airport shortly after departure on September 3 due to a hydraulic issue.
Flight UA1855, a Boeing 757-200 registered N18119, took off from Runway 25R at LAX. The crew encountered the problem while climbing toward a cruising altitude of 35,000 feet. The aircraft landed safely on Runway 25L about an hour after takeoff and taxied to Gate 73. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew.
United Airlines said the return was caused by a maintenance issue. Passengers were deplaned and were to be re-accommodated on a replacement aircraft. Departure was rescheduled for 5:30 PM local time, a delay of more than five hours.
