American Airlines is expanding its premium offering at Dallas/Fort Worth, the carrier's largest hub and the airport with the highest passenger numbers on its network.

The work covers new and refurbished lounges, additional check-in areas reserved for premium passengers, and improvements to digital services, according to the airline. American also plans to add more Flagship check-in facilities and to step up the handling of high-spending travellers.

The measures form part of a multi-year modernisation programme under which the airline is investing billions of dollars at the site.

Alongside the premium expansion, the investment is meant to improve day-to-day operations at the airport. That includes more reliable connections for transferring passengers and greater resilience when weather disrupts schedules.
