American Airlines to launch seven new international routes in summer 2027

American Airlines intends to add seven new international routes starting in summer 2027, according to the carrier. From Philadelphia, the airline will begin daily flights to Vienna, Porto and Reykjavik. Vienna and Porto are entirely new destinations for American, while Reykjavik returns to the network for the first time since 2019.

The Vienna and Porto services will operate with Airbus A321XLR aircraft, and the Reykjavik route will use an A321neo, the airline said.

From New York-JFK, American plans daily flights to Amsterdam and Nice, also using the A321XLR. The carrier will additionally launch daily service from Charlotte to Barcelona and from Chicago to Tokyo-Narita. A fourth daily frequency between New York-JFK and London Heathrow is also planned.

The new routes are scheduled to begin between late March and late May 2027, the airline said.
