ANA Holdings names merged cargo carrier ANA Nippon Cargo, launch set for April 2027

ANA Holdings has settled on a name for the cargo airline it is assembling from three of its air freight operations. From 1 April 2027 the carrier will fly as ANA Nippon Cargo. Its registered name will be ANA Nippon Cargo Airlines Co., Ltd., though the company will keep Nippon Cargo Airlines Co., Ltd. at the outset. The legal name change is expected in the second half of fiscal 2027 or later and is subject to government approval.

The new entity merges ANA Cargo, Nippon Cargo Airlines and NCA Japan. The group first set out the combination in March 2026, as it moves to strengthen its standing in worldwide air freight.

Each of the three brings something different. ANA Cargo has sold international cargo capacity and run mail operations since 2013. Nippon Cargo Airlines, founded in 1978, operates dedicated freighters on scheduled and non-scheduled networks. NCA Japan, set up in 2006 as a subsidiary of Nippon Cargo Airlines, handles warehousing and cargo processing.

Across the three, the merged business will employ more than 2,100 people. Its sales network reaches a string of cities in Asia, the United States and Europe.

Nippon Cargo Airlines will be the surviving operating company, keeping its Air Transport Business License and Air Operator Certificate once the merger takes effect. ANA Holdings said the new brand reflects the group's unified identity and what it calls its Nippon Quality standard.
