Icelandair could face an open-ended strike by its aircraft mechanics from September 23. The Icelandic union FVFÍ, which represents mechanics employed by the airline, has called the industrial action to begin at 00:01 that day.

If Icelandair and the union do not agree on a new collective agreement before then, the airline expects disruption to its flight operations. Schedule changes and cancellations are also possible.

According to the company, the financial impact of a strike on the Icelandair Group cannot yet be assessed.
