ASL Aviation Holdings buys two leased Boeing 747-400 freighters

ASL Aviation Holdings has completed the purchase of two Boeing 747-400ERF freighter aircraft that it had previously operated under lease. The aircraft, registered OE-IFB and OE-IFD, are flown by ASL Airlines Belgium within the group's network.

According to the company, the ownership transfer was finalized on August 7. Both jumbo freighters will remain part of ASL's long-haul cargo fleet, continuing the routes and operations they already served under lease.

The move increases the proportion of aircraft ASL owns outright rather than leases, a shift the group says strengthens its position in long-haul freight. No financial terms of the transaction were disclosed.

ASL Aviation Holdings operates a group of cargo and passenger airlines across Europe, Africa and elsewhere, with Boeing 747 freighters forming part of its wide-body capacity for intercontinental cargo services. The acquisition of the two aircraft does not, based on available information, involve any change to routes or scheduling for the freighters.
