EFW wins seven-year contract to maintain German army's NH90 helicopters
Elbe Flugzeugwerke has secured a direct seven-year maintenance contract with the German armed forces for the NH90 TTH transport helicopter, ending its previous role as a subcontractor.
Dresden-based Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) has won a seven-year contract from the German armed forces to maintain NH90 transport helicopters, the company said.
Under the deal, EFW will handle inspections, component repairs and possible modifications on the army version of the NH Industries NH90, known as the TTH variant. The first helicopters are expected to arrive at the Dresden site shortly.
EFW has serviced NH90 helicopters before. Until now, though, it has only done so as a subcontractor working beneath a prime contractor. This agreement marks the first time the company will work directly for the German military on the type, according to EFW.
The announcement did not disclose financial terms. Nor did it specify how many helicopters the contract covers, or how the work will be scheduled beyond the initial deliveries.
