Bremen Airport Faces Structural Deficit of Over 13 Million Euros
Bremen Airport is grappling with a structural deficit exceeding 13 million euros annually, and insolvency could occur by mid-2027 in a worst-case scenario, according to local media.

Bremen Airport is in serious financial difficulty, with a structural deficit of more than 13 million euros per year, according to local media reports. The 'Brestart' cost-cutting program has already saved about 4.1 million euros. In a worst-case scenario, the airport company could face insolvency as early as mid-2027.
The supervisory board has proposed bringing in an external interim managing director. Job cuts and outsourcing of part of the approximately 500 positions are also under discussion. Supervisory board chairman Kai Stührenberg confirmed the strained economic situation but said no layoffs are currently planned. Sources close to the supervisory board added that self-administered insolvency could hardly be avoided in the coming years.
