A cleaning company's car hit a parked passenger aircraft and a boarding stair at Munich Airport, the airport and police said, according to German media.

The accident occurred at about 3 a.m. local time. The car first struck an engine of the unoccupied aircraft, then the boarding stair, which was also empty.

Preliminary findings suggest the driver may have been impaired by a health problem, police and airport officials said. He was seriously injured and taken to a hospital by rescue helicopter.
