Passenger dies aboard Norwegian flight from Oslo to Málaga
A woman travelling on a Norwegian flight from Oslo to Málaga died after a medical emergency on board. The aircraft continued to its destination, where emergency services were waiting.
A passenger died on a Norwegian flight from Oslo Gardermoen to Málaga on Sunday morning, according to transmissions from the flight deck to operations controllers.
The woman was a Norwegian national of about 70, travelling with her husband. She was on flight DY1800 when her condition worsened while the Boeing 737-800 was in transit. Three doctors who were passengers on the aircraft went to assist her. Resuscitation efforts continued but failed, and the pilots confirmed the loss of life.
The crew placed her body in the rear galley, then secured it in a row of seats at the back of the aircraft for the rest of the journey.
The flight departed Oslo at 6:40 a.m. and remained on course for southern Spain, with arrival in Málaga expected at about 10:35 a.m. local time. Emergency services at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport had been alerted. Medical crews, emergency personnel and local police were to meet the aircraft at the gate to assist the husband, handle the formal declaration of death and coordinate with local authorities.
The aircraft involved was a Boeing 737-800, registration LN-DYX.
