Delta and Hyatt link loyalty programmes in strategic partnership
Delta Air Lines and Hyatt have announced a long-term partnership tying Delta SkyMiles to World of Hyatt, with double earning for elite members of both programmes.

Delta Air Lines and Hyatt have announced a long-term strategic partnership linking their loyalty programmes, Delta SkyMiles and World of Hyatt. Members of both schemes are to receive added benefits when they fly and stay.
The tie-up works in both directions. Delta SkyMiles members with Medallion status will earn extra miles on qualifying stays at Hyatt hotels, while their regular World of Hyatt account benefits remain in place. World of Hyatt elite members will collect additional Hyatt points when they book qualifying Delta fare classes. A single trip could therefore count towards both loyalty schemes.
The first phase is expected to begin in the coming months. Neither company has given a specific date. How many extra points or miles will be awarded, and which fares and hotel stays will qualify, has not been disclosed. The detailed terms are to be published before the official launch.
Both companies say the arrangement will widen beyond reciprocal earning. Later phases are to add further ways to collect points and miles, along with exclusive access and special offers for members of the two programmes.
Hyatt chief executive Mark Hoplamazian said exceptional travel extends beyond the hotel stay, and that the partnership is meant to produce a more connected travel experience from departure to check-out. Delta chief executive Ed Bastian described the collaboration as an extension of the airline's premium approach, saying Hyatt shares that aim.
