Deutsche Aircraft takes over automated logistics centre at Leipzig/Halle

Jungheinrich has handed over an automated logistics centre to Deutsche Aircraft at Leipzig/Halle Airport, part of preparations to build the D328 Eco regional aircraft.

Deutsche Aircraft has taken delivery of an automated logistics centre at Leipzig/Halle Airport, the manufacturer said. Warehouse specialist Jungheinrich handed the facility over to the planemaker.

The site is intended to supply materials for production of the D328 Eco regional aircraft. Two automated systems will be controlled together for the first time: a compact container store called Power Cube and an automated narrow-aisle warehouse known as Auto VNA, according to the company.

The Power Cube offers more than 6,500 container slots across roughly 210 square metres. The narrow-aisle warehouse provides 624 pallet positions.

Deutsche Aircraft is preparing the site for a production ramp-up. At full build-out, between 250 and 350 employees are to produce up to 48 D328 Eco aircraft a year.
