Dortmund Airport reports record August, plans CT scanners

Dortmund Airport expects up to 3.5 million passengers in 2026 after a record August, and plans to install CT scanners to speed security screening.

Dortmund Airport is holding to its forecast of up to 3.5 million passengers for 2026. Through August it counted about 2.3 million travelers, 7.9 percent more than the same period last year. August was the busiest month in the airport's history, with more than 360,000 passengers.

The airport also plans to modernize security screening with CT scanners. Liquids and electronic devices could then stay in hand luggage. Dortmund expects a near doubling of throughput, but no date for introduction has been set.
