Edelweiss keeps nonstop Windhoek flights despite Namibia fuel concerns

Swiss leisure carrier Edelweiss says it will continue operating nonstop flights between Zurich and Windhoek despite potential fuel supply constraints in Namibia.

Edelweiss says its nonstop route between Zurich and Windhoek is continuing as scheduled, despite concerns over possible fuel supply restrictions in Namibia.

The Swiss holiday airline said flights are operating as planned. It added that it is prepared for potential limitations in fuel availability at the Namibian end of the route, and has no plans to add a refuelling stop.

Edelweiss flies the route with the Airbus A350, a widebody type that can carry more fuel than other aircraft used on similar sectors. The airline suggested this range and fuel capacity means it can avoid relying on refuelling in Windhoek even if local supply issues do arise.

No further details were given on the nature or cause of the fuel supply concerns in Namibia, or on how long any constraints might last.
