Lufthansa to offer hot pre-order meals in economy on short-haul flights
From September 2026, Lufthansa will let economy passengers on short- and medium-haul flights pre-order hot meals for purchase, expanding its Onboard Delights catering programme.
Lufthansa plans to widen its Onboard Delights catering scheme starting September 1, 2026, adding hot meal options for purchase in Economy Class on shorter routes.
According to the airline, the offer will apply to flights of at least two hours within Europe. Passengers will be able to pre-order from five hot dishes: beef roulade with potato dumplings, chicken teriyaki, tortellini with tomato sauce and courgette, and a regional currywurst option from supplier Dönninghaus.
The move extends a paid catering concept Lufthansa has already used for pre-bookable meals. It now adds warm options to the short-haul economy cabin. Further menu details were not fully specified in the available material.
No pricing information was disclosed for the new hot meal options. Lufthansa also did not say whether the offer would later expand to other routes or cabins beyond the initial launch.
