Iraqi Airways resumes flights to Iran after airspace closures

Iraqi Airways is gradually restoring flights to Iran following regional airspace closures, with services to Rasht already restarted and Tehran, Mashhad routes to follow.

Iraqi Airways has begun resuming flights to Iran after a period of regional airspace closures disrupted its network, according to the carrier.

The airline has already operated initial flights to Rasht in northern Iran. It plans to eventually serve the city nine times a week.

Flights to Tehran are set to restart next week, the airline said. Baghdad and Najaf combined are expected to offer 18 weekly flights to the Iranian capital once service resumes fully.

Iraqi Airways also intends to add two weekly flights to Mashhad as part of the wider resumption of its Iran network.

No timeline was given for when all routes would return to their prior frequency, and the airline did not specify what caused the earlier airspace closures.
