Fairchild Swearingen Metro III veers off runway at Malmö, halting flights

A cargo aircraft left the runway after landing at Malmö Airport, blocking the runway and suspending operations for several hours. No one was injured and the airport's infrastructure was undamaged.

Landing went wrong for a Fairchild Swearingen Metro III F at Malmö Airport, and flight operations stopped completely for a period. The aircraft left the runway and had to be towed away, Sydsvenskan reported.

Swedavia, which runs the airport, confirmed the cargo plane was blocking the runway. Nobody was injured and the airport infrastructure was undamaged.

The aircraft was moved off the runway and operations resumed at about 19:45.
