Fraport reports August passenger growth across its global airport network

Frankfurt Airport saw its busiest month of the year in August 2026, while most other airports in the Fraport network recorded traffic increases.

Frankfurt Airport handled 6.3 million passengers in August 2026, its busiest month of the year, though the figure was slightly down compared with August 2025. The month also included the two busiest days of 2026 so far, each with more than 220,000 passengers. Cargo volumes at Frankfurt rose 2.9% to 179,400 tonnes, while aircraft movements fell 4.6% to 40,968 takeoffs and landings.

Across Fraport's international portfolio, most airports posted growth. Ljubljana Airport reported a nearly 20% increase, serving 222,231 passengers. In Brazil, Fortaleza and Porto Alegre together saw a 4.9% rise to 1.3 million passengers. Lima Airport in Peru also grew 4.9%, handling around 2.4 million passengers.

Fraport's 14 Greek airports recorded a 5% increase in passenger numbers. In Bulgaria, Burgas and Varna welcomed 875,035 passengers, up 2.1%. Antalya Airport in Turkey was the exception, with traffic dipping about 1% to 5.9 million passengers.

Overall, Fraport's global network handled approximately 24.1 million passengers in August 2026, a 2.1% increase.
