Prague Airport to Expand Terminal 1 Passport Control
Václav Havel Airport Prague will add five passport control desks and four self-service gates at Terminal 1, with work starting in September 2026.
Prague Airport plans to enlarge and modernize the border control area for arriving passengers at Terminal 1. Five new passport control desks and four self-service gates will be installed.
The project is scheduled to start in September 2026, with completion expected by the end of April 2027. Prague Airport is carrying out the work with the Police of the Czech Republic.
Airport officials say the expansion is needed to handle peak demand and cut waiting times. They note that pressure on capacity has grown since the European Entry/Exit System began operating in October 2025.
The new equipment includes five passport control booths and four EasyGoGate self-service gates for travellers holding European passports. The Police of the Czech Republic will supply and install them.
The project also includes a larger waiting area before passport control and upgraded ventilation throughout the area.
