Fraport takes over Jericoacoara Airport, its third in Brazil

Fraport AG has taken over operations of Jericoacoara Airport in northeast Brazil through its subsidiary Fraport Brasil, which also operates Fortaleza Airport. The addition brings Fraport's Brazilian portfolio to three airports, including Porto Alegre.

The concession was awarded under the Brazilian government's AmpliAR programme, which integrates regional airports into existing concessions. Jericoacoara Airport now falls under the Fortaleza Airport concession, which runs until 2047.

Fraport Brasil has committed to investing in modernisation over the next three years. CEO Andreea Pal said the airport opens up development opportunities within the Fortaleza concession and will strengthen connectivity to the Jericoacoara region, a popular holiday destination.

All three of Brazil's major airlines—LATAM, GOL, and Azul—serve the airport, which handled about 260,000 passengers in 2025, a 23% increase from the previous year.
