Game Aerospace GB2 firefighting aircraft completes first flight
The US manufacturer Game Aerospace has flown its GB2 firefighting prototype for the first time from Bentonville. The company plans to continue flight testing and then pursue FAA Part 23 certification ahead of series production.
Game Aerospace has completed the first flight of its GB2 firefighting aircraft, the US manufacturer said. The prototype took off from Louise Thaden Field in Bentonville and carried out all of the initial tests set out for the flight, according to the company.
The GB2 was designed for firefighting. It can carry about 4,540 litres of firefighting agent and 1,510 litres of fuel, has a two-seat cockpit, weighs roughly 2,740 kilograms empty and has a maximum take-off weight of around 8,620 kilograms.
Flight testing is to continue after the first flight. Game Aerospace is seeking certification under US Federal Aviation Administration rules for Part 23 category aircraft, with series production planned afterwards.
