LATAM Airlines Group has denied press reports that it plans to create a subsidiary to run domestic flights in Venezuela. It says its strategy in that market is limited to strengthening international connectivity.
"LATAM Airlines dismisses the press rumours pointing to a possible creation of a subsidiary in Venezuela to operate domestic flights," the carrier said. News and operational guidance about the companies in the holding will come only through official channels.
The unconfirmed prospect drew attention from Venezuelan users and the wider public. It reflects two things the local market has not fully seen during years of restrictions: high efficiency in commercial airline operations and a modern aircraft fleet.
No domestic subsidiary project is under way, and LATAM's activity in Venezuela will stay limited to the international links it schedules from its main connecting hubs.
