Polska Grupa Lotnicza, which owns LOT Polish Airlines, plans to set up a dedicated freight carrier under a strategy running from 2026 to 2032. The roadmap it published names a "PGL Cargo" segment and lists profitable all-cargo operations among its priorities.

The plan calls for a freighter fleet of its own. Cargo terminal work would be handled by LS Airport Services, the group's ground-handling arm. PGL also links the project to a widebody maintenance base LOTAMS is developing at Rzeszow-Jasionka, which would serve passenger and cargo aircraft. According to the group, the spending would improve Poland's standing in Central and Eastern European logistics and reduce reliance on providers outside the country.

Polish press reports quoting PGL chief executive Radoslaw Stepien say the proposed carrier would carry commercial freight and take on a strategic transport role in emergencies. Its aircraft could move essential supplies, equipment or humanitarian aid during crises. The move would add dedicated freighter flying alongside the cargo LOT already carries in the holds of its passenger aircraft.

Several details remain open. The material reviewed does not identify which aircraft would be used, how many would be acquired, which routes would be served, where the operation would be based, or a firm date for the first flight. Stepien has said operations could begin earlier than the market anticipates, but no schedule has been announced.

The cargo plans sit within a wider effort to bring together PGL's maintenance, handling and other activities.
