Lufthansa City Airlines to launch Airbus A220-300 service from Frankfurt in February
Lufthansa City Airlines plans to begin Airbus A220-300 operations on 1 February, with Frankfurt as the base for its first aircraft and Dresden as the first destination.

Lufthansa City Airlines plans to begin scheduled service with its first Airbus A220-300 on 1 February, according to Lufthansa Group flight schedule data. The aircraft has not yet been delivered.
Frankfurt will be the base for the first examples. Flight VL62 to Dresden is listed as the first scheduled service, leaving Frankfurt at 09:20 and arriving in Saxony an hour later. The return is scheduled to depart Dresden at 11:05 and reach Frankfurt at 12:10.
A second A220 is due to leave Frankfurt for Berlin at 11:45 the same day, while the Dresden aircraft is still in the air. It is scheduled to depart the German capital at 13:40 and land back in Frankfurt at 14:50. Another flight is planned for the first day.
The initial A220-300 carries the future registration D-ACAA. In August it was in final assembly at Airbus Canada in Mirabel, near Montreal, where its fuselage sections were being joined. At that time, delivery to Lufthansa City Airlines was planned for November at the latest.
Fleet chief Thomas Forster said in an interview in May that the airline expects one new Airbus A220 per month once the first aircraft arrives. To start operations without delay, the carrier is already training crews with partners including Air Baltic.
