Malaysia Aviation Group signs deal to buy Airbus's Sepang Aircraft Engineering
The parent of Malaysia Airlines has agreed to acquire Airbus subsidiary Sepang Aircraft Engineering, subject to regulatory approval, with completion targeted for 2027.

Malaysia Aviation Group has signed a sale-and-purchase agreement with Airbus to acquire Sepang Aircraft Engineering, an Airbus subsidiary based near Kuala Lumpur. The parent company of Malaysia Airlines signed the deal on 1 October. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The transaction needs regulatory clearance, including approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, and depends on other customary conditions. Malaysia Aviation Group expects to close it in 2027 if those conditions are satisfied.
Sepang Aircraft Engineering was set up in 2007 and has been wholly owned by Airbus since 2017. Cebu Pacific, Vietjet and Philippine Airlines are among its airline customers.
It has not been settled whether the company will be folded into MAB Engineering, the group's existing maintenance arm. Group president Nasaruddin Bakar said Sepang's Airbus A320 maintenance expertise complements what MAB Engineering already does. He said the acquisition builds on the group's engineering and maintenance operations and positions it to pursue work in the maintenance market and handle rising third-party demand.
