Animawings has filed for creditor protection at a Bucharest court and opened restructuring proceedings, the Romanian airline said. It intends to keep flying during the process and to hold on to as many of its planned routes as possible.

The airline blamed repeated technical problems in its fleet, saying these had increasingly affected operational, commercial and financial performance.

Its October 2026 schedule is being revised. Some connections will be cancelled, suspended or postponed, and services will continue with the two Airbus A320s available to it.

Media have also reported outstanding debts owed to airports in Romania and Greece.

No details were given on the size of the claims, the restructuring timetable, or how many routes would be affected.
