The Russian government has officially closed Moscow Ostafyevo Airport to flight operations, according to a report. The border control post at the site is also being abolished. The airport, formerly the main base of Gazpromavia, has been removed from the lists of jointly used airfields and of airports of federal significance.
Gazprom sold the airport complex to the city of Moscow in December 2025 for 2.724 billion rubles. Housing and a technology park are planned for the site in New Moscow.
Ostafyevo mainly served business aviation and was Gazpromavia's primary base. Its history dates back to 1934, and it held international status from 2007.
