Oktoberfest Air Bookings from India and Japan Surge
Amadeus Travel Intelligence data shows air bookings for travel to Munich during Oktoberfest 2026 are up 60% from India and 31% from Japan compared to last year.

Air bookings to Munich for the 2026 Oktoberfest period have risen sharply from India and Japan, according to data from Amadeus Travel Intelligence. Bookings from India are up 60% and from Japan up 31% compared with the same period in 2025. The data covers air travel between 18 September and 4 October 2026, as of 19 August.
Solo passengers make up the largest share of air bookings among all travellers at 47%, with growth of 2.2% year on year. Duos account for 33% of bookings, though that segment has declined by 4.6%. Small groups of three to five people represent 13% of bookings. Large groups of six or more make up just 7%, the smallest share.
Length of stay is shifting too. Short stays of one to five nights remain the most common at 65% of bookings, a share that has fallen by 2% from 2025. Trips of 14 nights or more have increased by 13% year on year and now represent just over 6% of bookings.
