Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport prepares for electric aircraft
Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport is taking steps to support electric aviation, with local flight training and sport flying organizations expressing interest.
Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport is preparing for wider use of electric aircraft after a visit from the North Rhine-Westphalia state government to discuss its work in this area. A two-seat Pipistrel Velis Electro was demonstrated during the visit. The state government considers the airport well positioned for further development.
In 2025 the airport recorded more than 44,000 aircraft movements, mostly involving smaller aircraft, placing it third among airports and airfields in the state. The resident flight school FMG-FlightTraining and the Paderborner Land sport flying association also expressed interest in electric flying.
The airport plans to continue pursuing the topic under its PAD innovation airport initiative.
