Qatar Airways keeps A350-1000 on Doha–Los Angeles as winter frequency drops to four weekly

Qatar Airways will reduce its Doha–Los Angeles service from daily to four weekly flights for the winter 2026/27 season while retaining the Airbus A350-1000, bucking the usual move to smaller aircraft on trimmed ultra-long-haul routes.

Qatar Airways will reduce its Doha to Los Angeles service from daily to four weekly flights in the winter 2026/27 season, according to schedule filings. The cut affects the Doha International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport route.

On most ultra-long-haul sectors, a frequency cut comes with a switch to a smaller aircraft, a step airlines take to protect margins as capacity shrinks. Not here. Qatar Airways is keeping the Airbus A350-1000, its largest widebody variant, on the sector instead of moving down to the A350-900 or Boeing 787-9. That runs against standard capacity management practice, under which a four-weekly schedule would typically be flown with a lower-capacity type.

Block time on the route is 16 hours and 35 minutes, making it one of the longer transpacific-crossing services in the carrier's network. The schedule filing gives no reason for the reduction.
