Russia unveils stealthy munitions for Su-57 at El Alamein airshow

Russia showed a series of stealthy air-launched munitions meant for the Su-57E fifth-generation fighter at the El Alamein Airshow in Egypt, which started on September 8, 2026. The state-owned Rostec corporation presented the weapons: the S-71M Monochrome, the S-71K Carpet, and a third munition identified as the Banderol. The S-71 family was known before, but this was the first public appearance of these variants. The Banderol is a low-cost missile that first emerged in 2025. Ukraine previously identified it as the S8000 Banderol, though it is unclear whether Russia uses that designation. Images also showed a Banderol mounted on the starboard stub wing of an Mi-28NM attack helicopter. The munitions were arranged around a parked Su-57 prototype and a company-operated Yak-130M light fighter aircraft. The Yak-130M had been transported to the show with its wings disassembled inside an Ilyushin Il-76TD. The Su-57 also performed a rehearsal flight.
