Somon Air to add inflight entertainment for the first time

Tajik carrier Somon Air will equip its eight incoming Boeing 737 Max 8s with a portable streaming system from French supplier Moment, its first inflight entertainment offering.

Somon Air plans to offer inflight entertainment for the first time, fitting its eight new Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft with a system from the French supplier Moment. The Tajik airline currently offers no onboard entertainment on any of its aircraft. Rollout is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.

The system is the Flymingo Box, a portable, battery-powered server. Passengers stream films, series, games and podcasts to their own smartphones, tablets or laptops. One box supports up to 100 devices at once and runs for up to 14 hours on a charge.

Content will be available in Tajik, Russian and English, alongside an interactive flight map. Because no structural changes to the aircraft are needed, the airline expects installation to take place without extra downtime.

The first Boeing 737 Max 8 was handed over to Somon Air in August 2026. Moment already supplies carriers in the region, including Kazakhstan's SCAT Airlines and Azerbaijan Airlines.
