Taranto-Grottaglie airport seeks airlines for Rome and Milan routes

The operator of Taranto-Grottaglie airport in southern Italy is looking for carriers to launch scheduled passenger services to Rome and Milan-Linate, with twelve weekly flights proposed in a first phase.

Aeroporti di Puglia, which operates Taranto-Grottaglie airport in Apulia, is looking for airlines to start scheduled passenger flights to Rome and Milan-Linate. It has opened a process for carriers to submit proposals covering frequencies, aircraft, flight times and commercial terms.

A first phase envisages twelve weekly flights to the two cities. Whether airlines will offer the services, and on what conditions, is not yet settled; the procedure is meant to establish that.

Carriers must also provide a business plan showing a route from Taranto could be economically viable. Expressions of interest can be submitted until 31 December 2026.

Passenger flights are only one part of the airport's development. Freight activity and its industrial and aviation-related functions are being expanded at the same time. The region has also applied to Italy's transport ministry for territorial continuity for Grottaglie, a second track pursued in parallel with the airline search.
