TSA suspends planned expansion of gate access programme

The Transportation Security Administration has put a wider rollout of its Gateside by TSA PreCheck programme on indefinite hold, days after extending it to hundreds of airports. The original pilot at 13 airports is still running.

The Transportation Security Administration has shelved a planned expansion of Gateside by TSA PreCheck, a programme that lets eligible visitors without tickets clear airport security and meet friends and family at departure gates.

It started as a pilot at 13 airports in September, then was extended to a planned 314 airports on October 2. Days later the agency reversed course. The wider rollout is on indefinite hold. The original pilot continues to operate.
