United Airlines to add ten international destinations in 2027

United Airlines has announced plans for what it calls the largest international network expansion in the carrier's history. It's set to begin in 2027 and adds ten new international destinations, along with three additional routes spanning Europe and Asia.

Newark will be the primary gateway for the new service, according to the airline, gaining eight new destinations. These include Luxembourg, Marseille, Ibiza, Valencia, Terceira in the Azores, Ljubljana, and Olbia in Sardinia, among others named in the announcement.

The expansion will also mark the introduction of United's Airbus A321XLR on international routes, the carrier said. The long-range narrowbody jet is meant to support thinner routes that would be harder to justify with widebody aircraft.

United did not fully specify the remaining destinations or the Asian routes included in the plan. It also gave no pricing or scheduling details beyond the 2027 timeframe.

The move is part of a broader push by the airline to grow its transatlantic and transpacific presence using smaller, longer-range jets capable of reaching secondary cities. No competing carrier has responded publicly so far.
