US carriers waive rebooking fees ahead of northeast storm

Several US carriers are waiving rebooking fees for flights affected by a strong storm expected in the northeast. American Airlines, United Airlines and JetBlue Airways will not charge change fees or any fare difference on affected flights between Friday and Sunday, according to CNBC.
The waivers cover many airports in the New York area, plus Boston and smaller New England airports. Under certain conditions, passengers can move their travel to later dates, up to the middle of next week. Federal meteorologists warn of strong winds and heavy rain, with the risk of dangerous flooding.
By Friday morning the effect on flights was still limited. The northeast saw only a few delays, and few cancellations were planned for the weekend at that point. The airlines are still watching the storm's path.
