What happened
During the landing roll, the aircraft began to veer to the left side of the runway. The pilot attempted to correct the deviation using right rudder and brake application, but the plane would not respond to these inputs. Consequently, the aircraft continued off the left side of the runway, resulting in damage to the right wing.
The investigation
An examination of the aircraft revealed that the right brake had failed. Further inspection showed that the brake lining for the back plate was missing. Additionally, the pressure plate lining was worn down, with only about 3/32 inch of lining remaining.
Findings
The failure of the right brake contributed to the aircraft's inability to maintain directional control during the landing roll. The worn and missing brake components were identified as the primary mechanical issues leading to the accident.
