Incident Details
The pilot, a private pilot with approximately 78 hours of total flight time, was attempting a touch-and-go landing. After a successful touchdown, he added power for takeoff. As power increased, the airplane veered sharply to the left on the icy runway surface. The pilot reduced power but could not regain full directional control. The airplane departed the left side of the runway and struck two snow berms. Upon hitting the second berm, the nose gear collapsed.

The pilot reported that his last flight had been on January 8, 1989. Since receiving his airman's certificate on August 31, 1988, he had accumulated approximately 11 hours of flight time.
