Event Description
According to the pilot's statement, shortly after takeoff, the aircraft was not climbing properly and the left wing dropped. The aircraft subsequently collided with trees and the ground.
Post-Accident Examination
Following the accident, the engine was removed from the aircraft and placed on a test stand for an operational test. The engine started and operated to nearly full static RPM with no malfunctions noted.
The aircraft's flight controls were examined by an FAA airworthiness inspector and found to be free of preimpact failure or malfunction. Additionally, the stall warning horn was tested and operated normally.
The investigation did not identify any mechanical or structural failures that would have caused the climb issue or the left wing drop described by the pilot.
