Incident Overview
A pilot flying to an offshore platform made an en route landing on an oil platform due to poor weather. After the weather cleared, the pilot and three passengers reboarded the helicopter. Before starting the engine, the pilot experienced several convulsions and lost consciousness.
Passenger Intervention
The passengers removed the pilot from the cockpit and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The pilot was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Medical Findings
The cause of death was determined to be ventricular fibrillation due to acute coronary artery insufficiency.
