Incident Overview
A foreign-registered, international cargo flight operating under Title 14 CFR Part 129 landed without incident during visual meteorological conditions. After taxiing to the parking area, the crew observed damage to the left wing.
Damage Examination
Inspection of the damage showed evidence consistent with a large bird strike. The leading edge of the left wing, approximately 2 feet outboard of the number 2 engine, exhibited dents and buckling. Several rivets were broken, and the leading edge spar sustained damage. A small portion of the upper wing composite material was missing.
Crew and Operational Details
The crew reported that no bird impact was noticed during the landing approach. The landing lights were used during the approach. The airport's automatic terminal information service (ATIS) included a caution about birds in the vicinity of the airport.
