What happened
On January 7, 2008, a Qantas Boeing 747-400, registration OJM, experienced a significant electrical failure approximately 30 minutes before arrival at Bangkok, Thailand. The aircraft lost all four generator control units (GCUs) during the approach.
To complete the landing, the crew operated the aircraft using standby power and instruments. There were 334 passengers on board the flight, and there were no injuries reported following the event.
