Incident Overview
On April 2, 2019, an Indigo Airbus A320 aircraft, powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW1127G-JM geared turbofan engines, experienced a failure of the No. 1 (left) engine while climbing through flight level 150 (FL150) after departing from Pune Airport (PNQ), India. According to the notification to the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the crew heard a loud bang, followed by an engine stall and an exhaust gas temperature (EGT) overlimit indication.
Response and Landing
