What happened
On June 26, 2019, an Airbus A320 operated by Indigo was climbing from Dehradun, India, to Bangalore, India, when the flight crew reported a loud bang. This was immediately followed by a stall of the No. 1 (left) engine, along with indications of high engine vibrations and high exhaust gas temperature.
The aircraft, registration VT-ITP, was diverted to Delhi, India, where the crew performed an uneventful landing. Following the landing, a post-flight inspection of the No. 1 engine confirmed that the engine had sustained damage.
There were no injuries resulting from this incident.
