What happened

On August 19, 2019, an IndiGo Air Airbus A320-271N Neo was performing a takeoff roll from Guwahati Airport, India, en route to Kolkata Airport, India. During the takeoff roll, the aircraft's number 1 (left) engine experienced a stall warning and high vibration levels. Following these indications, the pilot rejected the takeoff.

The inspection confirmed a failure of a blade in the 3rd stage of the low pressure turbine. The NTSB appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the government of India with the investigation under ICAO Annex 13 provisions. The aircraft involved was registered as VT-IVO.
