What happened

On 25 July 2017, a ground collision occurred involving two commercial aircraft during taxi operations. The first aircraft, a Boeing 737-700 with registration LY-AZV, operated by SCAT Airlines, struck a second aircraft, a Boeing 777-300 with registration TC-JJS, operated by Turkish Airlines.

The impact resulted in damage to the right-side winglet of the LY-AZV Boeing 737-700. There were no injuries reported among the passengers or crew members on either aircraft.

The investigation

The safety investigation was conducted by the Safety Investigation Authority of the Republic of Kazakhstan, acting as the state of operator for the SCAT Airlines aircraft. As the state of registry for the involved Boeing 737-700, the Republic of Lithuania appointed an accredited representative to participate in the investigation process.
