What happened
On the night of 17 February 2020, a Cessna 150 was performing a local flight under visual flight rules. The aircraft had departed from Saint-Lazare Airport, Quebec, carrying one pilot and one passenger.
While operating approximately 1.75 NM east of the Montréal/Les Cèdres aerodrome (CSS3), the aircraft struck two power lines and subsequently impacted the ground. The impact resulted in the destruction of the aircraft and caused two fatalities.
The investigation
The TSB conducted a class 4 investigation into the accident. The scope of this investigation was limited to the circumstances surrounding the collision with the power lines and the subsequent ground impact.
