On 15 November 2021, at approximately 15:40 PST, a Cessna R182, registered as C-FBKJ, was conducting a recreational visual flight rules (VFR) flight. The aircraft departed from Nanaimo Airport, British Columbia, with the intention of traveling to Glacier Park International Airport in the United States. The flight was carrying one pilot and one passenger.

During the flight, the aircraft disappeared from radar tracking approximately 17 nautical miles northeast of Hope Airport, British Columbia. Following the activation of an emergency locator transmitter (ELT), search and rescue teams were deployed to the area. The impact resulted in two fatalities.
