What happened
On the evening of 05 December 2022, a privately owned Cessna 150G was performing a night flight under visual flight rules. The flight originated from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield Airport (CSD3) in Quebec, with a destination of Cornwall Regional Airport (CYCC) in Ontario.
At approximately 8:00 pm EST, the aircraft experienced an engine failure. In response to the loss of power, the pilot attempted an emergency forced landing near Highway 401, north of the Lancaster Airpark (CLA6). During the descent, the aircraft struck power lines that spanned the highway. The impact caused the plane to crash into the grassy median separating the eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway.
As a result of the crash, the pilot and passenger sustained serious injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. The aircraft was completely destroyed, and the emergency locator transmitter (ELT) was activated following the impact.
