What happened
On 21 April 2023, a Cessna 150G was conducting a local visual flight rules flight departing from a private airfield located in Saint-Urbain-Premier, Quebec. The aircraft was carrying a student pilot and one passenger at the time of the accident.
While operating at a very low altitude over a residence in the municipality of Saint-Rémi, Quebec, the aircraft executed a low-altitude maneuver. During this sequence, the aircraft struck a power line and subsequently crashed into the driveway of a house. The impact triggered a fire that resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the flight path and the circumstances surrounding the low-altitude maneuver. Emergency responders extricated both occupants from the wreckage. Both the student pilot and the passenger sustained serious injuries and were moved to a hospital for treatment.
